Recently, a woman in Yangzhou City fell into the trap of telecommunications fraud. Seeing that more than 100,000 yuan was about to be taken away by the scammer, the police cleverly came up with a good way to avert the danger. Mr. Gao, a citizen, reported to the police that his wife lost contact after receiving a phone call and suspected that she might have suffered telecommunications fraud. After the incident, Mr. Gao immediately took his wife's salary card and went to the bank to apply for a freeze. Unexpectedly, he panicked and went to the wrong bank. It was probably too late to rush to the correct bank. After learning about the situation, the police made a prompt decision and deliberately entered the wrong password three times at the ATM machine to temporarily freeze the bank card. Subsequently, the 110 command center contacted Mr. Gao's wife and found her in a remote corner of the local shipyard. It turned out that she encountered a telecom fraud committed by posing as a public prosecutor and almost transferred more than 100,000 yuan. Fortunately, the police handled it in time and there was no property loss.
Pretending to be a public prosecutor is a common fraud method. Victims often transfer money without verification out of trust or panic. To prevent this type of fraud, just do the following three things:
1. Verify carefully
Any strangers who call or add friends must be carefully checked. If the system prompts that the account number is abnormal or the call is abnormal, they must be screened carefully.
2. Transfer money carefully
Do not click on unfamiliar links, do not disclose personal information such as verification codes and ID cards, and be especially cautious when it comes to transfers and remittances.
3. Enhance awareness
Even if the other party reports their own information, don't believe it. The so-called checking of funds and transferring funds to a safe account are all scams.
